Will you marry me?

'Will you marry me?'

He asked with his deep heavy voice,

He was down on one knee,

Facing upward searching her eyes,

He was the beholder, in his eyes her beauty lies,

His anxiety made him wish he was high.

Will she accept his request?

Or she will jokingly kick his chest,

Thinking that it's just a prank,

One of his all times jokes,

Will this be the beginning of the end?

Or the beginning of an endless end?

She has been his friend for long now,

Long enough to know her good enough,

A series of questions lingering in his mind,

Asking himself whether he is her kind,

The kind of a man she would like to get married to,

Does she feel the same feeling too?

He heard people say 'marry your best friend',

But his case is different to her maybe he is 'just a friend',

He is afraid he might loose her as a friend,

In the process of making her more than just a friend,

How should he say it for him not to ruin what they already have?

Or should he just be contented with half a loaf other than risking it to none?

Is he ready to face either acceptance or rejection?

If she says yes, is he ready for a life time detention?

If she says no, is he ready to endure the pain of rejection?

But if he decides to keep it to himself,

He might live in regrets,

Of what if he opened up his heart for her.

All this thoughts went through his mind,

While still kneeling down waiting for her to respond,

Finally their eyes met,

Her eyes shining in tears,

But before she uttered any word,

His phone rang distracting his attention,

But it rang not with his usual ringtone but his alarm tone,

To wake him up from his scary sweet dream,

Wishing he could make it real.
